D fer Dog

D fer Dog(by Folma) Trying to sleep on a lone bed he lay, the night air heavy from the heat of the day. He tossed to and fro, and the sweat from his brow, made it impossible to sleep, just for now. But his mind still active, from being unable to sleep, so off to the shed where his hog he did keep. A quick check of her oil, and that the chain was right he started her up, and cracked the peace of the night. He opened the throttled wide, as the tyres did hold, a story from short pipes, the neighborhood was told. For the air soothed his soul, as it flowed over him, then clearing the town limits, came devilish grin. As he eased the beast into top gear, he opened the throttle as with out any fear. Through rocky cuttings, with the revs up high, the engine on cam, came a haunting cry. As the headlight pierced the blackness of night, he thought to himself, "what a delight". Alone on the highway, just him and his hog, then from out of his sight, came running a dog. "Oh no", he thought, as there was no way out, when the front end dug in, with a helluva clout. He fought the bars with conviction and skill, as he halted the bike with a chattering shrill. He turned around to find the poor hound, broken, bloody and unconscious was found. From tee shirt he dressed the deepest of cuts and splinted the leg, of the black and white mutt. He carried the limp dog back to his mount, he rode like the wind, he thought time would count. But the dog did wake, as they left from green lights, did not get phased, as the hog launched into flight. At the animal clinic, its leg cast was set, forty four stitches and a bill to be meet. For the first time he saw the dog had spunk and paid the vet, from money to get drunk. On the road home, upon the tanks he layed, enjoying the ride, a friendship was made. Together they rode, on the highway of life, the mutt called Defer, with his loyalty rife. Written January 15th, 2002 © on Jan 14 2002 06:04 PM PST 0 • 10
