Contemplation's Tale

By Pat G

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

This tale of contemplation's from a fly upon the wall     Overhearing conversations of two sisters like us all.     In the weaving and the woeing of the sorrows one had faced     She related unbeknowing all the problems of her fate.     In just seven words a'sighing she prescribed the remedy     Which would cure her ills of living in one anthem's melody.     Yes, just seven words of wisdom from the mouth of one who knew     That the key to all of freedom lay just slightly out of view.     Yes, just seven words that mattered would have altered all her state     Would have changed the dire pattern of one weary, hard pressed mate.     "In my mind I've been a'turning over ways to change my life     And one thought has been recurring --- WHAT I NEED NOW IS A WIFE.
