Sea of Regret

By Pat G

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Here at last an angry sea where the crashing breakers’ roar fills all voids that came before Here at last an angry sea. Flights of words that soar and blend into spray and sea again Flights of tears that flow and streak salty crystals down my cheek. Grains of sand from rock and tide fill the hollows left behind Grains of sand my love and I could not hold and could not bind. Here alone in shifting sand where the seaweed is entwined building castles in my mind… building castles in my mind. I’ll hold back the setting sun, grip the twilight from behind til the shadows all are one In whose darkness I might find Just one final tear that lasts wets the future, mourns the past. Salty crystals left behind on the weathered cheek of  time. Midnight winds will find their voice. stir the dune grass and move on down the narrow path of choice of regrets I’ve stumbled on… of regrets I’ve stumbled onMy one attempt at writing lyrics. Be gentle. Written January 30th, 2002 © on Jan 30 2002 06:53 AM PST, Pat Grantt   0 • 1
