A Hymn to Life
By Paul B
What happened to us, crushed by the pressures of life? Worn and torn by its' troubles and its' strife, I remember the time When our laughter flowed as wine It flowed and bubbled through our days When we talked and searched for ways To love, so intoxicated were we, So drunk that we were free. This life is so hard, so brutal and dark, A struggle so deep that its leaves its mark. But I can't accept that this should be, So wrong to fight, so wrong to flee. God didn't create all that I feel Simply to bring me down to heel. Should I accept this as my due? Should I accept loosing you? No! I will not be cheated from the pleasures I knew, I shall not forgo the pleasures of you. I'll stand for what is mine by right! I will not give up this lonely fight! Not till I feel the sun's rays on my face Not till I stand in my appointed place. Not till I feel free Not till I find our reason to be.I wrote this when I couldn't decide what or who I loved.
