Disappointedly happy
By Paul B
Life is pain and grueling grind Full of sadness and grief An ever constant proof Of Rape and pain, the murderer and the thief. Then you question “why do I stay?” Why live in society’s sty When the grass is so much greener In the field on the other side. Well in all the pain I seem to grin Adversity is the other man’s sin And I am just disappointedly happy Laying here in the mud of my kin I taste that rush of caring beyond my needs Stupidly I drink from the tainted fountain Of another’s troubles None of which I can claim You took me in your arms, that day And cradled my head against the storm, The longing and the loss left me then So whole I stay Disappointedly happy Written December 31st, 2001 © on Dec 31 2001 07:48 AM PST 0 • 12
