Shadows In The Wind
By PoeticKnight
The world is tiffany-twisted, Haunted by sanity’s sins. We all are just wandering Shadows in the wind. But if the magic missed its mark And all the poets turned to stone, Would you still stand beside me? Or would you leave me here alone? And if tomorrow’s farmers Planted weapons in their fields And killed their neighbors one by one Every acre that they tilled, And if the whisper of what should have been, The sound of words unsaid, Sends silence echoing through the night And ringing in your head, And if your dreams fill the sky And slowly eclipse the sun, And if the night never ends And if the morning never comes, And if reality Decides to fade away And leave us to face the fate We knew we’d face some day, And if all the fears we hid break free, And if all our spirits rust, If all the stars we wished on fall, And if all our wishes turn to dust, And if the dogs of war Are given back their bark, And if they hunt us As we stumble through the dark, And if the world turns upside-down And all the rivers run reverse, Would our love be as strong? Or would it break under the curse? And if we live to see the day It all comes to an end Nothing would have really changed We’d still be shadows in the wind.
