Strong Little Mouse Had it hard Mama left after the humans came They slashed and burned and dug up his home Strong Little Mouse lived through it all We know not when the first one died Strong Little Mouse mourned his sibling Now their were two Little Mouse and Strong Little Mouse All day the fires burned as they waited for Mama NEVER she showed and Strong Little Mouse lived through it all Little Mouse was squirting blood from its nose and growing thin It was getting harder for Little Mouse to breath Strong Little Mouse lay next to his kin, one dead and one barely holding on In the fluffy nest Mama had left by the fire Girl came, and took away Little Mouse and the Dead Strong Little Mouse was left alone Strong Little Mouse lived through it all Girl cried for Little Mouse and thought Little Mouse was dead Low and Behold, Little Mouse had survived With nothing to give but tears, Girl cried and cried and pleaded Little Mouse to die Girl went back to get Strong Little Mouse She picked up the nest of fluff n’ stuff And carried it to the apple tree Strong Little Mouse was out of the smoke at last Strong Little Mouse had lived through it all Strong Little Mouse heard Girl plead and beg Little Mouse to die Girl knew it was the only escape to all the suffering Finally, with no tears left, she set Little Mouse and Strong Little Mouse back together In the fluffy nest Mama had left Girl left and returned with cold strange liquid Strong Little Mouse ached for Mama’s warm milk Girl tried to give Strong Little Mouse this cold wetness Strong Little Mouse drank it not and Girl cried and spoke and tried to comfort                    Strong Little Mouse “I cannot help you” Girl sobbed to Strong Little Mouse Girl tried to laugh and keep Strong Little Mouse cheery But Strong Little Mouse knew now what she knew Mama was not coming back, and Strong Little Mouse was not going to survive after all Girl walked off to sob in peace Girl came back and told Strong Little Mouse she had to go and was not coming back Girl set Strong Little Mouse down on the fluffy nest Mama had built Which now sat behind the apple tree Girl buried Little Mouse and the other And left Strong Little Mouse to the fluffy nest Strong Little Mouse survived it all Through fire and blood and family loss Through noise and starvation And ONE soul that cared; and loneliness at last Strong Little Mouse had survived it all Still Strong Little Mouse lays as I write this now Struggling to survive more and more Strong Little Mouse I love you Strong Little Mouse shall suffer no more in the end FLY FREE STRONG LITTLE MOUSEback in \'99 ithink, written in a moment of heightennd Pre-mentral sadness. based on a true story about a day i spent in the woods.
