11th Day

By Quabben

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

It came upon the eleventh day, determined to break a nation’s heart. A flame to burn the buildings down and take away our human lives. A fire so strong it tried just that. It rode along the fuel of Hate, with evil power of the lowly mind. The very worst that man can do, the lowest point of humankind. Oh woe betide this manic mind. And yet, it never reached it’s goal for all it did was move our kind; to close our ranks on the manic mind. It changed our lives, it moved our souls, it brought us closer, we are all one. No longer do we stand alone, we are all one to fight this foe. The nation’s heart did falter not, instead it grew with strength anew. A reborn nation, determined too. A new resolve, a winning throng, the aim to lift a nation strong. The way to go from strength to strength along the road of right not wrong. The birth of liberty, a bright new dawn. This nation has not bowed to threat. But stood up strong in the face of death. Much stronger now, with eyes of fire not ever will we lose this fight. For freedom’s song can never end. It is our destiny, it is our right. God bless to all thru’ this darkest night. Remember that the light will come, and quickly too, so very bright. God bless my friends with all Your might.I wrote this on the 12th September, the day the world changed. I wrote it because I wanted American people to know that the thoughts of other nations was with them during this tragic time Written January 5th, 2002 © on Jan 05 2002 04:45 AM PST   18 • 0 • 1
