LadyHawke
By Rhiannon
On a barren mountainside The boy a wounded hawk spied He took it in and gave it care Bandaged it's wound and brushed it's hair And the magic flew though the air The boy left the hawk asleep on the hay Then left to finish his work for the day He returned to the barn as the sun went down But the wounded hawk was no where to be found And then from the stall came a sound The boy carefully opened the stall door A beautiful maiden lay curled on the floor Her eyes were suddenly full of great fear Untill she saw the young boy grow near To the dirty straw fell one single tear The boy was unsure of what had transpired The maiden fell back exhusted and tired The boy then gasped at what he did see For the maiden was wounded unquestionably And the wound matched the hawk's exactly The boy heard a deep growl behind his back He turned to see a large wolf hairy and black He pulled back his lips showing teeth sharp and white The boy thought that he would surely die this night But the maiden whispered "No, it's alright" Then the wolf slowly walked right past the boy Went to the maiden who stroked him with great joy The wolf then laid down by the maiden's side The maiden held him close and began to cry The amazed young boy went outside The next morning the sun climbed to on high A hawk flew from the barn to rise in the sky The boy saw no sign of the wolf in the light But from the barn walked a powerful knight Who rode off behind the hawk and out of sightBased on the 1980's movie "Ladyhawke" Written February 13th, 2002 © on Feb 12 2002 09:17 PM PST 0 • 10
