A Matter of Time

By Richard J Sereday Jr

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

She was the leaving kind. She proved this to me time and time again, till there was no more time to give. I would have given her anything I had to give. Anything but my trust, for this she had to earn, and she was earning it, one step at a time. One steps forwards she took, then two back, again and again, losing ground all the while. Each time she left me, she proved to me that she was indeed, the leaving kind. I do not think that she really wanted to leave and leave and leave again. She just couldn't help it. after all.... she was the leaving kind. That's what they do. Can a leopard change it's spots? I think not. Yes, she was the leaving kind. Oh, how I wish this undeniable fact could be denied. Once again she leaves me, as I knew she would. It was just a matter of time. Written October 3rd, 1998 © on Dec 03 2001 12:46 AM PST   0 • 10
