carry the weight of the world

By Richard J Sereday Jr

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Heavy is the weight of the world, on these broad shoulders that I wear and the wings of this angel that I am. In need of their strength and power, with this world I that do share. With their uplifting power which I provide, out of the valleys you I do raise, high above your troubles, and you and you, one and all, a never ending task. The lines they are so long, the pain and misery Woefully, mournfully, cries, they fall upon my ear. Endlessly, eternally, in a time limitless. Who is it to which I can turn with broken wing of self? Deep inside I find my strength, I find my second wind, these reserves upon which I once again carry the weight of the world. Written November 11th, 2001 © on Nov 11 2001 03:12 AM PST   0 • 10
