Chocolate Covered

By Richard J Sereday Jr

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Standing in a store at the checkout line, I just happened to see these boxes of chocolate covered cherries. It made me think of, how much I was like these boxes of candy. The chocolate, so much like the sweet part of me. The creamy filling, so much like the tears I have cried over the loss of your love. The cherries, so much like my heart, floating somewhere in all those tears. And the box, so much like the me that can just be thrown away when you've finished with it. ~~~~~ Oh, how much it hurts to be without you in my life.
