Diamonds in the wind
What a lovely ring was my wedding gift from her, so many beautiful diamonds, and she said..... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "we are through, I wanted a divorce", and my heart, it stood still, and stopped beating then and there. Fifteen years flashed before my eye, over and over for days, the good times, the bad, the accomplishments, the mistakes. And there was the sleep that never came, hoping for the sleep, to sleep through this heavy heavy heartache. But in time the sleep, it did come, after a multitude of sleepless nights. And with the sleep the nightmares did begin. And I found myself walking in a field along side a fence of barbed wire, when my ring, I did catch upon that fence, and it cut me deeply, and I jerked away, and into the wind, the diamonds did fly, a million tiny little pieces scattered, and the pieces were our lives together. Franticly I did chase after these tiny little pieces but they were too many, and in all directions they did fly never to be found, in spite of my efforts. Hopeless was the task, but I tried just the same to gather up the broken pieces for repair and restore, but it was not to be, so screaming I awoke, two A.M. it was, never to sleep again that night and many others to follow. And I never could pick up the pieces of the ring, and there was no repair or restore, but the day came that pick up the pieces of my life I did. Somehow stronger, the price we pay for strength, "all to high". Written June 19th, 2000 © on Oct 16 2001 02:51 AM PST 0 • 1
