Dreamer

By Richard J Sereday Jr

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

She said I am a dreamer, this much, yes, is true, but my dreams are based in logic, oh, if she only new. She said her feet are planted firmly down, but mine would never touch the ground. It was a match that could never be, because of this dreamer that is me. Yes, I am the greatest of dreamers, no reality in my way, to find these dreams I dream of, throughout my nights and days. So many came before me, dreamers by the score, from very humble beginnings, into the grandest minds, this I'm so sure. Einstein and Edison, were dreamers, can't she see, the Wright Brothers and Newton, all dreamers just like me. To walk on the moon, a dream came first, one small step for man. and Dr. King, he had a dream, that took us to his promised land. One fountain that would serves us all, the dreamers do provide. A cure for cancer just around the bend, a battle, they do fight, their dream to rid this world of our of such an awful plight. So I wonder where this world would be, without these dreamers just like me? And did Romeo ever dream, his dreams of what his love might be? Just like you have me dreaming, of parting that Red Sea.
