Great expectations

By Richard J Sereday Jr

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

I know you think I let you down, but I was only being me. And you thought I was, who you thought I was, but I am who I'll be. This lofty pedestal you have placed me on, from these heights, my nose, it does bleed. So as I bring you down to earth, I hope this much you believe. Human am I, and fallible too, this perfection you dreamt of, those thoughts came from you, but you tagged them no me, and expect me to live up to them, but I will be what I will be, nothing more and nothing less. Please accept me for what I am, and I'm sure that you will see, perfection is not what I am, but I try so hard, you'll see. Written January 9th, 2002 © on Jan 09 2002 04:22 AM PST   0 • 10
