Heart on sleeve

By Richard J Sereday Jr

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

I wear my heart on my sleeve some find that hard to believe, that isn't how it's meant to be, for how could I protect it? So many would grab at it and give it a squeeze, and I'd ask, “please, don't hurt me please”, but they would bring me to my knees, as the pain rang through my soul. My heart, the muscle that is was, could pump out such a powerful love, the kind that comes from heaven above, and I'm saving it just for you. So won't you let me take my heart, and the love held for you within, and pour it into yours so true, just give a sign and I'll begin.
