I did then see

By Richard J Sereday Jr

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

In this world, I walk and I see, I see so many things that make me wonder why, why I can't be happier with who and what I am. My weight, it isn't where I wish it to be, so I feel bad, I feel sad. But then I see one whom is literally two times my size, and then I feel so foolish. Oh, how good I have it and I can't even see. I then see the pretty boys that get all the pretty girls, and I wonder why I can't be as pretty, until I see a man who is, a victim of a fire. A face of scares and mutilation, a horror to the eye, then I see in me my beauty, it comes mostly from within, from the realization that we are all of one cloth. Beneath in a place deeper than skin, deeper than beauty, we are all humans being human, so our faults, they are forgiven and our imperfections understood by the understanding of this earth as well as that guy in the sky. To the heavens I did gaze, and deep inside I searched and the answers I was looking for I did then see. Written November 27th, 2001 © on Nov 27 2001 04:33 AM PST   0 • 12
