In a Perfect World
Oh, if only this was a perfect world. A world without mistakes. A world where everything always went right. A world where we always said and did the right things. A world where a promise was a promise. A world where trust was trust worthy. A world where we could count on the ones we can count on. I was one that could be counted on, one that was counted on, one that didn't always do what I was counted on to do, much like those that I counted on. How could I have let down those who counted on me? How could those I counted on have let me down? How could I have said and done the wrong things to the ones that counted on me to do the right things? How could the ones I counted on to do the right things say and do the wrong things? Why does life take such unexpected turns? When we can't count on the ones we can count on most, who can we count on? Well, just maybe "God" and maybe self, but so many times we let ourselves down. If we would take the time to look at ourselves, and become the person we could count on, then we could become the person the ones that count on us could count on. Yes, for this is not a perfect world, and human beings are far from perfect. If we could try to do the best we can do, that's good enough for our "Heavenly Father". In a perfect world everyone could forgive just like him, but in a perfect world there would be nothing to forgive. Written September 12th, 1996 © on Oct 12 2001 05:50 AM PST 0 • 12
