My Magic Wand

By Richard J Sereday Jr

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

I was walking down a beach one day, when I happened upon a magic lamp, or at least it looked like a magic lamp. So I figured what the hell, I picked it up and gave it a rub and to my surprise out popped a genie. He told me I could have one wish for freeing him from his prison that was that lamp, anything I wished, it would be mine. So I thought about fame and fortune, I thought about wealth and prosperity, and love and happiness just to name a few. That's when I saw her walking my way. and my heart, it cried out, Oh my god, "how can this be"? And in seeing her I no long wondered what my wish would be. I had already set one free on that day, but my work had just begun, for my wish was this. A wand, a magic wand, with the power, the power to set free so many people. People imprisoned within, within their very own bodies. Fat, fatter, fattest, and fatter than that. Living the life of the fattest. People pointing, they stop and stare, and laugh at them, they don't care. The pain, the ridicule, the cruelty, the sadness and sorrow. The laboring to do the simplest things carrying all their extra weight. The "why am I like this, why can't I stop, I eat so much. what's wrong with me"? Trying so hard and losing two pound, only to regain five again and again. "The I hate myself, I wish I would just die". "I run and I hide in my food, that is where I find my comfort, that is where I find my pain". So here I am with my one wish granted. This powerful tool to set them free, one by one until the end of time, for the job is just so big. Breaking their chains and setting them free. So thankful am I for this gift too me, this power I have to set them free. And if I ever get a free minute I'll tell you what I'd do. I'd take my wand and tag my ass a time or two:) Wow, what a dream.............. Written November 16th, 2001 © on Nov 16 2001 03:36 AM PST   0 • 12
