only just those three

By Richard J Sereday Jr

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

I did not get to say goodbye last night. It was something that I truely missed, as you slipped away without a sound. Yes, I did say hello upon your arrival, but your parting left me in great sorrow, for I knew not of it’s coming, though I knew that time would come. I wonder what our goodbye might have been and in my mind I knew. I had told you of the beauty that in you I saw, but that one more thing I wished I had said from my mouth had never come, and I wondered what the point would be in telling you such a thing, but still I wished that I had. The words did never come, but from my eyes, and my touch and our sweet embraces as we melted into one, if only for a time. Such simple words to say, only just those three, but to live up to them, how many can, This I do ponder. Written March 28th, 2002 © on Mar 28 2002 04:35 AM PST   0 • 10
