quell this desire

By Richard J Sereday Jr

Some of the most valuable gifts the world has ever known, that of my heart and love, which to you, I did out hold but for you to in partake. My love, such a prize few have ever known, much less receive, and yet there for you it was laid at your feet. I held this love close to my heart for oh so long, for I had yet to find one worthy to have bestowed upon such a grand prize, and then came you. Yes, I love you, yes it is true, and I hold out to you these gifts, there for your pleasure alone. Will you see in them, their value and true worth as before your eyes they be placed. Will you take them in your hands, hold them in your arms, clutch them to your bosom? True love everlasting, how many ever find it, the lucky few, I say. So here I do bestow this love of mine that now to you belongs. Yes, it is true, you have won my heart. It is yours so plain to see, there for the take, but only for you. This love there for you, it is so real and it is so powerful, as it does call out your name. But reality does set in and I do then recall, that you belong to another, so how can you be mine, and how can I be yours, tell me this do. Yes, this call does call to you, but the answering shall never be, yet that calling does endure beyond the indicated logic that does this dictate. So, t’was not meant to be, this is all so plain to see, but quell this desire, that I can not do. Written March 28th, 2002 © on Mar 28 2002 04:03 AM PST   0 • 10
