Resisted all the while

By Richard J Sereday Jr

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

I was so attracted to you from our very first meeting but you seemed to resist all the while, to ever let me get truly close to you. I wanted too so desperately, but you always kept me an arms length away from deep into your heart. I could see inside your door, I could see behind the walls, to the place never my feet would stand, I feared. Still, there I stood, knocking at your door, and I wondered if it would ever be opened to me? Wondering if it would finally open at a time, that I was no longer standing and knocking? So all I really know is this: that life is a mysterious journey, and at least for a time, I traveled this journey with you and your smile by my side, and for the sharing, I thank you.
