She Did Not

By Richard J Sereday Jr

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

She didn't say she loves me last night, so I could not fall to sleep, but I did. She didn't say it this morning either, so I could not go on living, but I will. Guess she did not say it because she did not feel it. That's OK I guess, if that's how she don't feel. So was it just one of those day, or are her feelings fading? And were they ever truly there for her in the first place, I'm wondering to myself? I sure thought they were, seemed to me, from the fire in her eyes. Though I quess she never really said I love you to me but a time or two, unless it was in response to me saying it first to her. So is this how love comes and goes, again and again. Or are we just having a little speed bump along our way, as so many do that could grow into some kind of foolish pride? She ain't sayin it, if I ain't sayin it. I ain't sayin it, if she ain't sayin it. Ain't knowbody sayin it then soon not feelin it. Holdin it in the palm of our hands, then letting it go, letting it die... no way, I say, don't let go. Crazy or what would they call that? If only we had a zero maintenance flame. Some old pain here. Written November 2nd, 1999 © on Dec 19 2001 05:21 AM PST   0 • 10
