take the time to breathe

By Richard J Sereday Jr

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Waiting in the wings, hanging on the edge, for the day to come that you might come to me. Afraid to take a breath and take the time to breathe. so I hold it. But how long can I do this unnatural thing? To live I need the air, as oxygen it does provide to fill my blood with life that powers my heart to beat for you and you alone. But the time it does grow long without you, as I alone dream of endlessly our reuniting that may never see light of day in my lifetime. So if I do move on, I fear that I might see over my shoulder you running after me but too late. As the tides carry me away from what just might have been, but was never meant to be if that I can believe, but I don’t know if I can. Written March 29th, 2002 © on Mar 29 2002 01:45 AM PST   0 • 10
