The better offer

By Richard J Sereday Jr

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

It seems like I am always being outbid by the better offers of others. When I offer all I have to offer, it seems that someone always has just a little more appealing offer, rendering my offer, seemingly short of the mark. But do these to whom I offer, really understand just what it is that I offer? I offer things that most are not even capable of giving, but I don't try to wrap my offers in a facade of false glamour and glitter as do so many others. Some of the most beautifully wrapped packages contain nothing but disappointment within, while some of the most modestly wrapped gifts hold some of the greatest treasures one could ever hope to own. You will not find me trying to sell the value of my offerings, as a salesmen would, for they are things that only the one wise enough to see the value of within, is deserving of. My generous offers will be one day received by one who will not be fooled by the glamour and glitter of other offers. Only she will be deserving of such a precious gift.
