Wet Paint

By Richard J Sereday Jr

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

I have been so many things, to so many people, But I can not be all things to everyone. I tried to meet your desires, as best I could. I tried to fulfill your requests, with all of my powers. But know of my limitations, to the gifts I might impart, I being but a man and should you chose to place me in a specific roll or capacity and your wants and desires, I can not fill, think not ill of me. To you I could be so many things or no thing, This choice, in your hands does rest for now, soon to slip from your grasp, should you fail to see it for the gift that it is. But as you paint me into a corner do not expect me to step in the wet paint. Written March 14th, 2002 © on Mar 14 2002 03:44 AM PST   0 • 10
