Windows to the soul

By Richard J Sereday Jr

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Our eyes are the windows to our souls. You can tell so much about a person by gazing deeply into their eyes. You can see their sincerity, their honesty, their kindness, their compassion for their fellow man, if that's what's in their heart. You can see the love and the hate, the happiness and the sorrow, the pleasure and the pain, the contentment and the troubles, the truth and the lies. The eyes will always give you away. Some will avoid eye contact at all costs, as if they are afraid to let anyone see what is inside their heart. I invite anyone to search my soul through these windows of mine, my eyes, for I have nothing to hide from this world. Should you choose to take a glance into my soul through these eyes of mine, you would see me as I truly am. So many pieces of this complex puzzle, which come together to make me who I am, this person worthy of loving. Gaze deeply and you will see the essence of my soul, as it comes out of these portholes of mine to meet you half-way. Yes, the eyes are the windows to the soul, so remember that just as you can see into my soul through these eyes of mine and see what is in my heart, I to can do the same. The eyes give you away every time. Written November 12th, 1996 © on Oct 09 2001 12:23 AM PST   0 • 10
