Thank God I'm Color Blind
By Russ
So, what is this "racial" thing, I don't understand. Its hatred fills the air across a shameless, sickened land. Why so many questions, why waste so much time. I thought life was meant for living, ...thank God I'm color blind. I see colors in the rainbow, I see colors in the Fall. It's the colors in society, I cannot see at all. I'm lost in all the violence, and I'm lost in all the fear. What the hell would we hate then, ...if all our skin was clear. See the newborn child, some say that he is "black". He slumbers, only minutes old, hatred now he lacks. There's an infant resting next to him, some say that he is "white". In a different time, in a different world, they'd be colorless ...they might. The inter-racial love affair, so many people hate. Just like AIDS ...just like Cancer, love ...does not discriminate. "RACE", it is a word, I cannot even fathom, I thank God I'm color blind, for color is a chasm. Written October 4th, 2001 © on Oct 04 2001 02:01 AM PST 0 • 9
