the societal mirror
By scarlas29
Looking in the mirror, The mirror of society- Pressure points of perfection, Acupuncturing my soul. Plastic surgery to my being, Not the way society perceives me. Natural build of slender, Natural grace of spiral curls- To my shoulders. I can look unto the mirror and wish these things, To be banished from me. Let me be a carbon copy, A slave to the waves of trends- Society places unto my feet; In the mirror of society. Instead of self-acceptance, I can crave… I can wish… Different objects to be part of me. Spend the dough, To be a creative “sculpture”- A model of medical discovery. Forget natural anatomy, And have plastic inserted upon my heart- Where it can seep and soil my tarnished, superficial cravings. Societal imagery, The fake, unimaginable trash- Many pray to be? Society lies, with airbrushed Hollywood scripts- Of fake realities we don’t need. The beauty we hunger for- Can’t be established by society, It must blossom from within; Be discovered through tribulations, Starved ribs won’t excel your esteem- It’ll tear you down and kill, Softly and slowly, with insanity, As the ribs and plastic become what you used to be.cheers to britney spears!
