The Roses of Shadow

By Shadows Dark

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

The roses of shadow, are nebulous things, with petals of darkness, and thorns of less...savory things. They grow in the shadows, of one's mind and soul. To bring pain and insanity, that is their goal. The scent of their petals, the prick of their thorns, they tease and they torment, with the skillof the Norns. A rose is quite beautiful, this much is true, but so is a tiger, and a blade is too. The roses of shadow, don't cut like a blade, instead they poision your mind, with a subtle nightshade. Once in their grasp, they never let go, you become a puppet, in their own private show. The roses of shadow, are dangerous things, they take all of your nightmares, and then give them wings. Hold onto your dreams, that's my only advice, and if you spot a rose of shadow, cut it down with a scythe. Written February 25th, 2002 © on Feb 25 2002 07:43 AM PST   0 • 1
