Aquarium

His mother told him, There was a sea full of them She didn’t say, they’d run away Form a line, away from him He bides his time for wandering As he slowly approaches them Drifting in a state of fear He resurfaces to the shore He keeps drifting He move’s by consequence Until he moves he’s not a man If he spits out his fear and swallows his pride He’ll meet her on the other side She’ll be standing, Beautifully motionless Like a ray of light, His ray of hope He’ll find himself staring As he remembers the shame He says “No more drifting…” “I’ll stop my breath, I’ll take my chance” Days would pass him by, His only company was his own reflection She changed his ways, put him in the right direction He’s by her side, by himself With the utterance of a word, This fish will find his bird Together they’ll be sunlight Until the final curtain draws to a close He’ll find the way, to her side By the time he does, he’ll be a man He’ll be one with the inner sand He’ll be free from the sea and plunge into love Written March 6th, 2002 © on Mar 06 2002 07:28 AM PST 10 • 0
