Shadow

By Shane

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

In my shadow I see myself, But he does not exist I try to focus my attention elsewhere But I cannot resist Outlined perfection Is a portrait of myself the saint It is shaped and toned A replica superior, to my very self Duplicating in the sun Frustrated as the moon comes out It quickly runs away Not afraid to be afraid, he’ll be back today Daylight comes and so does it Returning from it’s sleep Unlike the body growing old The shadow remains forever fit Resurrected by the light Now it’s on a bus The same as me, yet differently His locations are random and unfamiliar Portrait of perfection A sun cast reflection Of all that life should be My shadow, a better version of me Written April 21st, 2002 © on Apr 22 2002 04:30 AM PST   10 • 0
