I remember (challenge)
By Shashama
I can still hear the nurse Yell in her cheerfull high-piched voice "Line up! Time for meds" I remember how we walked Like zombies from our graves Not even thinking anymore About where we were Or where we were going I remember the feel Of confinement Alone, trapped In my tiny room I can hear the click clack Of the nurses shoes I remember waking up To the sound Of my door opening As they made sure I was still alive I remember Swapping one drug for another Because someone always had The kind you wanted I remember being alone And friendless Because no one had friends You had allies But I still remember The click of the pen As your symptoms were written down And the look of hate On the "doctor"'s face And being trapped In your own mind But I also remember Getting outI took this from my father's experiances...this is where he was, you know? I could feel the pain just from looking at his face when we watched "Girl Interrupted" he's told me stories, and I wrote this poem..go figure... BTW, this poem was runner up....
