The Rope
By Shashama
It hangs as a symbol before me Tempting my darkest regions A dark reminder of my attempts Yes, my attempts at suicide I left The Rope up there It was unconquered, unchallenged even It hung there for years, mostly unused But every once in a while...the Knot was tied again And The Rope was used once more I couldn't take It down I still needed, no, wanted It up there I still longed for the feel around my neck My friends kept me going Kept me away from that rope But It still hung Waiting for the day, when I would try again Waiting to be used Hoping to be used And my Friends...I love you all You kept me up again And I thank you I took the rope down...Er...true story...took the thing down last week...
