Better Luck Next Time

By sidewinder

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

I went fishing with a friend just yesterday, We biked down river a mile or three, I should have looked at the water color, Cause when its too muddy the fish get too finicky, Only had one decent bite, yet we had fun, Wound up at the 2nd pond across the cemetery and everyone except us were catching fish, Well.. I guess we weren't holding mouths right, Cause it got dark on us & it got cold, Try it again tomorrow, Maybe our luck will get better, You never know until you try, It's funny... sometimes as you go life has its ups & downs, But you aren't living until you make the effort, So here I am... Woke up from another restless night, Strange dreams that I've been having, It's been a long time since I've had nightmares, Not since I was a child, But lately they've come to haunt me again, But you know what? I'll shake them off and go fishing again with my friend, Who knows... maybe I'll have better luck next time, Then the nightmares will go away... These too will pass... Still... I plan on just living and see what goes on, My luck somehow has got to get better, Damn... I wish it would hurry up! April 3, 2002 Written April 6th, 2002 © on Apr 06 2002 05:16 AM PST, Billy E.
