Legend Of The Coyote
By sidewinder
I heard the coyote in the night, As the coyote howled I listened to the message, Whispers of the shaman as he leads the visionquest, As the coyote appears in my vision, I see the smile on the coyote's face, He speaks of wisdom, A coyote from a different tribe spoke in a language I did not understand, My mind did not know the language, But my heart did, He spoke of a land far into the mountains, Where the river flows & game was plenty, I sat with the coyote, As we watched the hunters gather the food for the tribe, We see the children as they played running & laughing, Life was good, You can gather all the legends of the coyote, Some are good, Some are bad, What is the heart telling you that you need to learn of that spirit of the coyote? He whispers in riddles, Showing you the medicine of the coyote, Fulfilling a plan, Showing you that need, For the coyote is a prankster, But in the jokes that he plays he shows a side of humor in life, Where everything need not be serious, Now it's time to say goodbye to coyote, Farewell brother, Good life & good journey.
