Poets Of Yesteryear
By sidewinder
I remember those poets of yesteryear that touched the hearts of the youth, Some criticized what we stood for, Folk music played as we stood out in our sit-ins with posters crying, "Give peace a chance" though we didn't see the other side, We only knew what the radio, newspapers & TV told us, We never knew that soldiers were fighting for their lives and had to back each other up anyway that they could, Some left the country & wouldn't fight, So they called them draftdodgers, No one wanted the horror called Vietnam, But some said that it was honor to fight for their country, Yet the politics raged on, But who could have known that a mother's tears would flow.
