Tiger...A Long Time Friend

By sidewinder

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

A long time ago I had a friend named Tiger, A crossbred cat who cared for me like no other, He wasn't small by any means, Tho when he first came into my life a little redheaded girl brought him, So tiny then that he'd fit in the palm of my hand, In a year he grew to lay clean across the back of my neck, Where he loved to lay, Kitty, kitty, kitty! I'd call, Meow ! As if to say: What do you want now? then we'd both keep each other company on the back porch watching the stars late at night, These days I miss him, Long gone from my life, He tarried too far from home wondering in his ways, Too close to the highway and that day it got him, A friend that I had worked with had knocked on my door and told me that my friend was gone, Tears still roll on my face when I think of that day, Yes... I miss you my friend, maybe somewhere you're hunting in that big blue sky, Good hunting! Jan. 30, 2001 Written December 31st, 2001 © on Dec 31 2001 04:52 AM PST, Billy E. Whitehorn    0 • 18 • 4
