Lessons Learned
By Silver Angel
She's very little Still quite young There is no way to stop What had begun It wasn't her fault There was no place to turn The words of her mother Still rang in her ears "This is the lesson you must learn" It was not the first time She heard those words She looks to the left And then to the right Then back to her mother Her eyes huge with fright There was no one to save her Or calm her fears No one caring about her tears So with a heart filled with dread She lowered down her head Then stiffened her back Awaiting the first crack She could drift away If she tried really hard Getting out of the body That stayed to receive it's pay When it was over She crawled away beaten Praying to God "Please help me be good" As all little girls should Over the years She learned many harsh lessons She's all grown up now But remembers the blows dealt Never forgetting All the pain that she felt The most important lesson That she has learned Is never abuse And never... Never... Teach with a belt! Written September 24th, 2001 © on Sep 24 2001 09:39 AM PST 0 • 1
