Angel
By silverael
I let you gaze upon my face When in shadows it was once concealed And against revulsion I did brace As what darkness hid, light revealed But you did not flinch, my heart, Nor did you cry out in disdain But touched your hand upon my cheek Which flushed for being so vain The gentleness erased my fears, Traced away the scars from long ago And what I had once only dared to dream Was finally upon me to know. A chance to live without the cloak With no need to flee or hide, To allow life's patterns the pain surcease, And let the doubt subside. For this I owe my very soul for The release from its prison strong, And the knowledge that angels do exist, Your touch proof of their gentle song Written October 30th, 2001 © on Apr 11 2002 04:43 PM PST, Elizabeth Botkin 0 • 8
