The End of the Road
By SkyRider
The End of the Road Love is such a complicated word I've used it in so many lines. And when I say it ~ it's certainly true, but the meaning of it changes with time. I seem to get woven into webs of deceit. Never meaning to break any hearts, But it seems that affairs get tangled and mired When they seemed so perfect at the start. One woman has held on to the one thing we know... We'll end this long life as a pair The others are nothing but sex in the night who's love simply cannot ever compare. My wife, the real love, the love of my life has struggled with my crazy middle age. Sometimes we laugh at the women in my life Sometimes she can be such a sage. I want her to know that our life is what's real. These others a temporary flight When I'm in their arms, she kisses my dreams I think of her the rest of the night. To others the contradiction is total and complete It doesn't look like I love my wife. But she knows the truth that resides in my heart She will be with me the rest of my life. We're working together to get me through this She's carrying the heaviest load. One thing is for sure, and she's confident now We'll be together at the end of the road. This is sort of an apology/love letter to my wife who has been through hell and back for me.
