“American family” A broken home that’s still in one place Broke their backs just to say they had some space Try so hard to make ends meet Just to keep shoes on their children’s feet Their babies fight a war against society Son and daughter trying to be what they can be (Chorus) Meet the American family Letting there wounds bleed for their country All corrupt if you let your eyes see past national TV Meet the American family Every household has a gun Children are now fugitives on the run They are rich, Upper class well done Mother has a fancy car, like a movie star While her kids are at home with video games Mother… Children… Faceless names They don’t know, the single mother With no place to go, but she still lets Her dreamless hope show (Chorus) Meet the American family Letting there wounds bleed for their country All corrupt if you let your eyes see past national TV Meet the American family It wasn’t all bad some of us are glad for the times we had Do you feel the scorn, from the child born of poverty There’s the American family Some of them are angry for the remaining pain They have to feel, the rest of us learn to deal We are joined together in this unwanted opportunity We are the American family..I don't really know where this came from, just one of those times when you play and sing and something just comes out.
