From the First Day We Met

By Spoot

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

From the first day we met I handed you my heart gave you my love in a smile before the crowd tore us apart. Wondering, wanting. The second time we passed in the busy halls that day I walked up to you and requested your name you told me politely and went on your way. Dreams in the night. In the morning, before class, you walked towards me with a grin your sapphire eyes captivated me my soul that day you did win. Hoping, praying. We held each other in slow steps the night of the senior prom dance it was perfect as a fairy tale a wonderful story of romance. Love goes on. From quiet night to still morning we held one another with tender affection knowing for certain, without a doubt, that we had found the entirety of perfection. Soul mates. After a night of dinner and candles you got down upon one knee my eyes grew wide, my heart stopped beating, you always brought such joy to me. Wedded bliss. Late one evening my stomach jolts and the next whole day is blurred pain my only memory is your warm hand through labor, you kept me sane. First child. Now all of our children are at college your golden curls are steely grey now at the sunset of our lives I still turn to you at the end of the day.I think the whole thing's weird and the only reason I'm putting it up is because Matt said that if I didn't, he'd get off the phone, come over here, and drop another cookie down my shirt.
