Promises
By Spoot
You tell me that you love me dearly, in the park on this cold, frigid night, you tell me that you cherish me, tell me that everything will turn out right. Why can I not believe in your heart, in your dazzling promises and caring words, I hope that you're still my soulmate forever but in my heart, my hopes fly away like silent black birds. Fly away like all of your comforting phrases, promises turned to lies like memories turned to dust on tarnished wings stained with teenage tears, somehow, my faith in you has started to rust. And still I tell myself you're telling nothing but the truth, that I still believe in your smile so gorgeous it almost makes me cry, and in your arms on this warm night, listening to your lies, I think that tomorrow, yes, tomorrow, I will let my freedom fly.The fluidity of the piece is all screwed up... I couldn't get the syllables right... ech. Oh, well. Written February 28th, 2002 © on Feb 27 2002 04:23 PM PST 18 • 0 • 1
