A Tear Once Lost (a challenge poem)
By StaryEyed1
Challenge Description: Write an internal monologue about a major life decision/conflict. No thematic guidelines. (20 points) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- i know there's a life outside this emptiness but compared to this pain everything seems so small every moment wasted crying adds another universe between us i think i need you and perhaps i don't there's more fish in the sea i'm told but they don't understand in my eyes you were the most precious fish of them all and what did it matter to you i was walked all over, just another easy thrill what makes me want to return i deeply cared for you wasn't it enough? and you moved on just as quickly disregarding my tears so what if i loved you despite your careless ways i always knew you better if i could stop wishing for another kiss could only stop longing for another smile i've locked every tear away that threatens to show whenever you walk by but they just keep coming you'd think they'd learn when to quit i'd never thought living could be so lonely without you however you're not mine to hold anymore there's a life beyond you and i'll just have to find it Written January 17th, 2002 © on Jan 17 2002 09:42 AM PST 0 • 1
