The Perfect Question

By SubwayBoi

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

A wonderful being came down here to Earth Appearing without fanfare of procession. It brought with it knowledge, and pleasure, and mirth, And offered to answer one question. It said, "Your knowledge of life is simply sufficient, You generate adequate theories; But you could benefit from someone omniscient, So I’ll answer one of your queries." The scientists worked to find a question to propose And finally found one that fit: "What is the best question that we could pose, And how would you answer it?" As the being spoke it gazed straight ahead, Its words were a very slight hiss: "The best question to pose is the one you just said And the answer to it, well, is this."
