Rainbows
By susanne
In pastel shades of royal hue yellows, pinks, greens and blues an arc doth stretch across the sky interwoven with clouds nearby. In awe and reverence they humble me from the first I'd heard of them around the age of three. In bible school they taught of a never ending love and that a rainbow in the sky was a covenant from God. A promise made to man and all creatures here below never again to flood the world regardless of the seeds we sow. Then along about the age of four playing in the sunshine in my back yard I felt a raindrop touch my nose a pitter patter across my toes. A gentle rain began to fall yet the sun was warm and shining tall. I looked up to the sky above to see the sign...the arc of love. I layed down in the warm wet grass and watched the colors come to pass. I prayed that I would always feel the peace I felt that day and God saw to it that I would in his omnipotent way. As a crying child at the age of seven he comforted me one day when I gazed to the sky and a rainbow appeared to wipe all my tears away. At the age of nine (though not remembered till the age of twenty-two) this spectrum of love rose in the sky drawing me into its view. Hard hands pushed me down to a cold wet ground innocense lost shame had been found. My hands reached out and up to the sky as the colors of the rainbow permeated my mind. I prayed that I would always feel the peace I felt that day and God saw to it that I would would in his omnipotent way. In the summer of my life with heart full of joy I saw reflections of a rainbow as I held my new baby boy. I whispered in his ear of this beauty to behold and told him it would always be with us regardless of the seeds we sow. Written March 17th, 2002 © on Mar 17 2002 12:58 AM PST 18 • 0 • 13
