Tennis Serves (Highlight to read!!!)
By TaraKM
I swung at the ball, Racket in hand, The full thrust of my arm, Follow through... WAM! I hear the clunk of the ball, And see it travel through the air, But it was the spin of the ball, That caught my eye, Like an apparition from the sky, The pain rung in, And my eyes lite up, As the ball clinged to the net, Time seems to stop, Which side would it fall, My heart seemed to race, Then I heard my partner's call, "In," she said, "take two." A sigh brisk my lips, I bounce the ball twice, Only to subside the next serve, Then ball in hand with all of my might, I looked toward the court, A frightening site, I quickly swung toward the ball, But went to fast... Swoosh! All I got was air and just one more try, This one had to go in, I wipped the sweat from my brow, And then after just a glimpse of my oponent, With lightening speed, Ball over the net, My opponent took a swing, "ACE!" the crowd screamed!I love playing tennis, but often it makes me nervous when I am playing doubles and it's set point, my serve- very nerve-racking to say the least!
