A Bride's Dream
Through an ivory veil I Caught myself in a web of euphoric bliss. Silvery pearls well strung on Chantilly lace, bedecked my wedding gown's bodice With a trail of embroidered fluer-de-lis lining the mile long train in a set of borders. It was half past two as the Limousin Pulled into the curb in that pink mid-morning sunshine The groom waited nervously, his hair parted oiled with brilliantine Pacing back and forth within the Pastor's chamber, Walking on islands of whipped cream; In a kooky delirium the Bride's father held his daughter's hand, Carefully walking his most prized possession up the church's stairs While miles and miles of wide-eyed guests lined the pews like crazed fans Awaited the entrance of the Bride with eager silent stares. The best man winked at me, with such reluctant pleasure The groom out-witted him quite sharply And in his gaze he filed his grievance With a feigned smile and after-taste of despair. With a look of resigned love in his crooked smile He buried his resentment In an eternal silence. Every eyes were upon me as I approached the path Yet poised with a holy grace I stood a radiant-looking lass With a look of joy and contentment upon my face As Father and I started down the aisle The groom looked at his approaching bride with awe, So beautiful and innocent like a dove Yet in his mind he saw Her 'winking belly-button' advancing up the aisle And little pearls of sweat ran down his tux As he waited for his love Like a salivating fox Inside a faux disguise. I bet he couldn't wait to serenade His Bride while surfing on the far side of the moon Sipping pink lemonade In the giant Sandals Whirlpool on the evening of their honeymoon!
