Advice From an Old Man

By The Green Man

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Sit children, sit a while with meThere are a few things I wish to sayThere are lessons I have learnedAnd ones I am still learningThat may help you in your travelsDo not be afraid of strange dogsMoreso beware strange menFor therein lies the true dangerWhen you give your heart to someoneGive all of it, hold nothing backThe rewards far outshine the risksBe eternally true to yourselfFor once you believe your own liesYou have stepped upon the path of darknessTrust your own heart and mindBe the person that is inside of youNot the one others try to moldPrepareing for the future is importantBut not as much as enjoying the presentMemories are worth far more than bank accountsLove the most important thing that has ever existedThe one truth and power that no man can doubtOf course I speak of the EarthDeal with life's problems and dangersAnd find someway, somehow to be happyLife is too short to waste on garbageAnd children, before you leaveOne final important piece of adviceTurn off the television, the computer, and the cell phoneAnd take a walk with someone you loveBefore it's too late.Just simple words from a simple man.
